eLF - E-LEARNING FITNESS

Promoter: University of Rome La Sapienza

EOSE role: Conducting a desk research & Leading dissemination activties

Duration: 36 months (01/01/2011 to 31/12/2013)

Partnership: 19 core partners in 12 countries

EU Programme:  Life Long Learning Programme 2007/2013 Multilateral projects

Scope: Fitness sector

Since formulation of the EQF-Fitness, there has been an enormous need to qualify the currently active fitness professionals who are affecting over 40 million Europeans through health enhancing physical activity as well as training and educating new instructors according to the EQF structure.
However due to distance and/or professional commitments, it becomes necessary to facilitate the training for all who operate as fitness professionals, overcoming the difficulties which prevent those who live in outlying areas from participating in suitable training courses and continuing professional development. Open and distance learning is a flexible way for training and continuing education during the individual’s free time.

The main objectives of the project/network are

  • to create a European training system for e-learning in fitness to cover the minimum standards for both the theory (knowledge) and the practical skills and competencies

  • to create a platform for an interactive national professional register which will collaborate with other international registers.

During the life of the project at least 300 persons will undergo the eLF training program (an average of 20 per each partner country). The eLF outcomes will be used by the Fitness VET organisations to qualify current instructors and to give the basic (minimum standards) knowledge, skills and competencies to new instructors.

The website and e-learning structures will continue beyond the life of the project with the aim of enlarging the number of European countries using the eLF European standard e-learning system related to EQF and the Exercise register for the all Member States.
The methodology used by the eLF partnership may be transferred to other realities in the same sector, as well as in other sectors, providing recommendations useful to exploit LLP results in the best way.
